Membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Prospective members must complete the Application for Membership, and by signing agree to abide by the By-Laws and Rules and Regulations of the Club, and that violations of such may be grounds for dismissal, without remuneration. Currently there are no restrictions on new memberships, however a prospective member may be denied membership if a known history of dismissal from another sportsman’s club for significant conduct or safety concerns is expressed to the Voting Members at a monthly meeting. Prospective members do not require sponsorship by an existing member, but all new applications must be approved by the Voting Members at a monthly meeting.
Membership renewals have been mailed to all 2018 paid members, except those having only joined in 2018 that have not completed their Work Party requirement for membership renewal in 2019. 2019 Annual Dues are $25.00 and current 2018 member renewals for 2019 membership must be received before January 31, 2019. No exceptions will be made for late renewals. If you submit a renewal after this date you must submit it as a new member application with the $35.00 new member fee, participate in a new member work party or pay the work party waiver fee, and also complete the new member orientation program.
New member applications are $35.00 which includes annual dues as well as a non-refundable application fee of $10.00. New member applications will be submitted for approval by the membership at the next monthly meeting after receipt, and if approved you will receive your membership card after completing the new member orientation program. If membership is denied you will receive a refund of the $25.00 annual dues paid, less the $10.00 application fee.
Membership dues are not prorated. New membership applications received and approved beginning with the October 2018 monthly meeting and anytime up to and including the September 2019 monthly meeting will have membership good through December 31, 2019. New membership applications received after the September 2019 monthly meeting and approved at the October, November, or December 2019 monthly meetings will have membership good through December 31, 2020
All newly approved members must participate in (1) scheduled work party in their first year of membership, or pay the Work Party Waiver Fee of $75.00. Failure to do so will result in denial of renewal of your membership for the following year. You must then wait (1) additional year to re-apply as a new member. Work Party exemptions are available for active duty military service and physical disabilities preventing manual labor.
The 2019 work parties are tentatively scheduled for January 12, March 23, May 11, June 8, August 10, September 14, and October 12. Please check this website for final dates. Work parties will run from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. No reservations are needed; simply show up prepared for outdoor work. All members are welcome to participate and all help is appreciated.
In addition to the work parties, all new members are required to complete our orientation program prior to receiving their membership card. This program is designed to introduce all new members to the club, and will consist of a tour of the grounds along with an explanation of the activities available. It will also cover all range rules and regulations, the hours open for use and, most importantly the expectations for using them in a safe and responsible manner. Additionally, upcoming club functions, the membership manual, club committees, the guest pass program and new member responsibilities will be reviewed. Orientations will be offered the first Saturday of every month at 1:00 pm, the second Sunday of every month at 10:00 am, the third Thursday of each month from May through September at 6:00pm, and at the completion of every scheduled work party. Reservations are not needed, just show up at the designated time.
Membership applications and renewals can be downloaded and printed, or picked up at the Clubhouse. Completed applications/renewals should be mailed only to Cocalico Sportsmen’s Association, P.O. Box 49, Akron, PA, 17501-0049, or they can be dropped off at the clubhouse during scheduled events only. Checks returned from the bank for any reason will be returned to the applicant and require the applicant to pay the bank service fee in addition to the annual dues and must be re-submitted by certified check or money order.Membership Application
